Meaningful Tourism & Artificial Intelligence workshop

The second Meaningful Tourism & Artificial Intelligence Workshop in Nepal will take place on 24 September 2026, in Lalitpur, Kathmandu Valley. This workshop offers an excellent opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of Meaningful Tourism and explore practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in tourism.

The two leaders of the MTIL Meaningful Tourism Innovation Lab, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt FRGS FRAS, Executive Director of the Meaningful Tourism Centre, and Mr. Suman Baral, co-leader of the I.Stem Lab, will conduct this workshop to provide advanced, practical guidance for a better future of tourism for your company or organisation and for a better future of tourism in Nepal.

The MTIL Meaningful Tourism Innovation Lab Nepal promotes the development of a Meaningful Tourism Economy, providing practical tools for companies and organisations to be more successful in work for profitable and sustainable tourism. Artificial Intelligence can help to speed up this development, but only if it is used in a practical, well-structured way.

On September 24th, 2026, the workshop will start with an introductory session from 8:00 a.m., followed by the main programme. In the first half of the day, there will be in-depth work on Meaningful Tourism content and tools: Prof. Dr. Arlt will explain and extend the tools of Meaningful Tourism, which are based on the insight that all stakeholders need benefits and satisfaction from tourism to be able to provide and sell quality services and to attract the right kind of international customers.

The AI part of the workshop, led by Suman Baral, is strongly focused on practical application. He will provide detailed, hands-on examples of how Artificial Intelligence can be integrated into a Meaningful Tourism approach, including concrete work on the content writing process based on traveller personas and empathy mapping, as well as examples related to specific segments such as halal tourism. This AI segment will show how AI can help guarantee visibility in the international market, strengthen quality control, and create more efficient ways of work and promotion, with easy, step-by-step applications that you can implement immediately in your own organisation.

After a joint lunch, participants will work together to apply Meaningful Tourism and AI tools with the help of practical examples, case discussions, and exercises. For the work group topics, all registered participants will be contacted beforehand about their specific questions and interests to make sure that the topics are directly relevant and useful. This will provide an opportunity to develop and refine concrete ideas and get feedback on possible implementations for each business or organisation.

To support the work of the Meaningful Tourism Innovation Lab Nepal, the participation fee for this workshop is 10,000 Nepali Rupee per person. If a company or organisation is sending two or more people, there is a reduced fee of 9,000 Nepali Rupee per person.
