In the destination-specific first Online Lecture, the founder and Executive Director of MTC, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt FRGS FRAS, widely known as “PROF M” (for Meaningful with a capital M), will give an introduction into the Meaningful Tourism paradigm and tools, followed by a presentation by the Certified Trainer of MTC for each of the five destinations, speaking about how this strategy can provide the tourism sector in this country with a holistic approach to adapt to the fast-changing development of global tourism in times of climate change and AI. As special guests, different regional experts will add more insights with regard to each of the five destinations.

More Online Lectures for destinations in Europe, Asia and Africa will follow in the new year 2026.

Meaningful Tourism is a paradigm and tool which is based on the insight that all tourism stakeholders need to receive objective benefits and subjective satisfaction from tourism and hospitality activities. The six main stakeholders identified in Meaningful Tourism approach are: Travellers, Host Communities, Employees in service-providing companies, Service-providing companies, Governments and the Environment. SMART KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are used to measure the improvement of benefits and satisfaction on a regular base.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, “PROF M”: “With a Meaningful Tourism approach destinations will be able to benefit from the increasing interest of activities beyond sightseeing and recreation without falling into the traps of overtourism and environmental damage, making sure that local communities and employees get their fair share in alignment with the interests of companies and governments.”

Participation is free with previous registration at https://institutetourism.com.
