Meaningful Tourism as a Tool to Develop Sustainable Tourism – Online Lecture Series

Africa – First Wave (December 2025)

The first online lecture wave for Africa will take place in December 2025.
Country-specific sessions are scheduled for December 1–5, followed by three additional Africa-wide lectures on December 9, 16, and 23 (Tuesdays).

All sessions will begin at GMT +8, corresponding to:

  • 10:00 AM – South Africa and Zimbabwe
  • 9:00 AM – Cameroon
  • 11:00 AM – Tanzania and Kenya
    (For Nepal, the time would be 1:45 PM)

A second Africa wave will begin on January 19, 2026.

Participation is offered free of charge as a scholarship opportunity for participants in Africa.
Registration is required via the Tourism Institute website.
Participants who wish to receive a joint Participation Certificate from MTC and the Tourism Institute after December 23 must pay a USD 30 fee, and the Tourism Institute will provide payment instructions.

South Asia – First Wave (December 2025)

South Asia will also receive its first wave of online lectures in December 2025.
Country-specific lectures will take place from December 8–12, followed by three Asia/Pacific-wide lectures on December 15, 22, and 29 (Mondays).

All sessions will begin at 10:00 AM local time, except:

  • 10:15 AM Nepal time – for India and Sri Lanka
  • 10:45 AM Nepal time – for Bangladesh

Participation is also free of charge as a scholarship for South Asian participants.
Registration through the Tourism Institute website is required.
Participants who wish to receive a joint Participation Certificate from MTC and the Tourism Institute after December 29 will need to pay USD 30, and the Tourism Institute will share the payment process.

Session Structure (All Countries)

Each lecture follows the same 60-minute structure:

  • 15 min – Prof. M: Introduction to the Meaningful Tourism paradigm and tools
  • 15 min – Local Trainer: Relevance of Meaningful Tourism for the specific country
  • 10 min – Local Expert / VIP: Current activities supporting sustainable tourism and capacity development
  • 8 min – Vinod (AIROI): Carbon Credit trading as a revenue opportunity through sustainability
  • 12 min – Live Q&A
