MEANINGFUL TOURISM & AI WORKSHOP in Kathmandu on August 10th, 2026

Meaningful Tourism as the key to improve international tourism to Nepal

Kathmandu, August 6th, 2026

The Meaningful Tourism Innovation Lab Nepal is organizing its first Meaningful Tourism & AI Workshop in Kathmandu on August 10th, 2026.

The workshop will be presented by the two leaders of the MTIL Meaningful Tourism Innovation Lab Nepal, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt FRGS FRAS, Executive Director of the Meaningful Tourism Centre, and Mr. Suman Baral, AI expert and manager of I.Stem Lab.

Prof. Dr. Arlt has almost 50 years of experience in Asian tourism. He noted: “Nepal is wasting 97% of its international tourism potential. Compared to international averages, the country is realizing only about 3% of its potential to earn money added from outside to the economy and to create jobs and support regional development from international tourism. The workshop will introduce the Meaningful Tourism tools which can be used by private and public stakeholders to change that within a Meaningful Tourism Economy.”

A Meaningful Pacific-Asia Tourism Economy has been declared as the official Vision of PATA Pacific Asia Travel Association, the major international tourism organization in the region. The headquarter of the Meaningful Tourism Centre is located in Lalitpur, with Meaningful Tourism Innovation Labs situated in several countries in Asia as well as in Africa.
